Observation

Species: Broad-billed Sandpiper (Limicola falcinellus)
Number:
Breeding:
Remarks: Notes by Robert Thomson: Sandpiper foraging on a sand bar relatively far away, in association with a few Ruff and substantially smaller. Slightly down-curved tip of the bill and clear supercilium good for Broad-billed Sandpiper with which I have some experience in Finland. Head too 'streaky-looking' for Curlew Sandpiper, well known from South Africa, and bill not as obviously down-turned. Streaky looking head also doesn't match Dunlin, a species which I have worked on at length (although admittedly the individuals I worked with were mostly colour ringed and often in my hand).
